It's too far into the year for there to not be something up with this. The only theme to ever give me personal hope is Squig's music because of being a stoner street performer myself. Seeing him back at it, some of these strips it is tough for me not to cry over!

Interestingly, The Great Wave has also been a major theme for me this year specifically.
