My Life Isn't Your Porn

So this is something horrifying and new, and I'm furious it's a thing.

Btw, I know it's not uncommon to hear from men that spy on women, "upskirt" them and such. In fact, a friend of mine asked me how he should break the news to his friend that her boyfriend was filming women on the campus' dorms without their permission. Which not only violates their privacy but pushes them away from the only free place where they can live while getting an education at the same time.

My friend and some other people were already going to drag the bloke for what he have done and justice was served and is being served as we speak, but his gf was unaware he was a fucking creep, and my friend didn't know how he should handle the situation: if letting her know by him or by the public dragging of her (hopefully now ex) bf.

But, what I really didn't know, was that that sick shit was a porn genra. "Spy porn". Wtf. How sick does those dudes have to be??

I'm happy those women united in a march to expose and protest against this sick crap. And they are so organized!

Thoughts?

The latest evolution of voyeurism.

Its practitioners will sometimes justify its existence by saying they don't film faces, that you can't ID the girls. If they even register that there's something fundamentally wrong with what they're doing, that is- mostly all the justification they need is they're just "playing the game".

If some guy's into this, and even DOING this, the girl should know. Because that's the kind of guy who's not going to think twice about filming her, and will have revenge porn on hand for blackmail and breakups. She should know that he's also likely to share any videos he's got of her with his close friends, especially if they can't make a positive ID from it.

Don't cut these guys a break. This is done without permission and without willing participation, and it's explicitly used to record girls with no agency in the matter. It's also a very short slippery slope away from more physical acts with much bigger consequences.

I couldn't agree with you more. I'm rather impressed with their protests, as well! 30k! Wonderful!

Anyone heard what happened after those protests and if they keep on going?

The government is continuing to mostly ignore the issue. They did arrest one of the owners of one of the biggest sites when her passport expired and she returned to South Korea, but the other owners have foreign passports and so it's like, no big deal.

A woman started a reversal website in protest, and they sure are going for her: asking for international help and whatnot. https://www.theguardian.com/world/2018 ... ist-police They also arrested a (female) model who took some of the pictures of a (male) model hosted on the reversal site.

This is all enraring and the last bit, wow, sexist much? They don't give a fuck if it's dudes or rich people making money out of invading women's privacy right? I'm so ready to punch someone right now!

"Activists say search for website editor who posted photos of men without their consent is hypocritical and ignores similar activities by men"
Holy fuck I'd be mad too!!!!!
