Let's share some readings between radfems
I'll start with this opinion piece that I think conveys well the general idea of why "woman" shouldn't be definied by men:
"Let’s be really clear here, I don’t care what these men choose to wear, how they style their hair and who they do or don’t fuck. They should be safe in public spaces; they should have the same rights to housing, jobs and earned respect as anyone else. They should feel safe. Nobody deserves to be threatened, hit, or assaulted for the clothing they wear or their sexual preferences. I’m all for diversity and breaking the bonds of social convention. Men can wear make up, of course they can! Bloody good for them! It just doesn’t make them women. This current trend isn’t about ‘gender bending’, and it certainly isn’t about challenging the boundaries of gender or breaking down stereotypes."

Call me Celina. This forum still have a long way to go until it gets filled with its intended public. And I'll do my best to help us reach that goal. I'm a battleaxe, and when you hear my voice it'll be as loud as a thunder and as clear as a blue sky.
Re: Let's share some readings between radfems
This is a really, really long read but well worth it. It's not entirely flawless but it does a great job of offering citations to prove that RadFems are hardly punching down when it comes to TRAs. They are well-funded, many right-wing leaning and incredibly anti-women as a whole. It also throws a wrench into the 'But Trans Women are being murdered ALL THE TIME' rhetoric.
Inauthentic Selves: The modern LGBTQ+ Movement Is Run By Philanthropic Astroturf And Based On Junk Science
It's especially telling in how much is anti-lesbian about this movement and how when it comes to Trans Identified Females, little care is given too.

Not the nice kind of feminist.

Inauthetic Selves is a GREAT read. Also, Zhathil, this is off topic but I looooove the Jet Girl icon!

As a resource, the blog 4thwavenow was useful to helping me understand facets of trans activism that TRAs refused to discuss, especially from the ethics surrounding the transing of children. Nina Paley's blog as well!! She is a radical feminist animator who makes really great movies, highly recommend her work! Public screenings of her films have been deplatformed because of her open criticism of self ID, and they're all available for free online because she doesn't believe in copyright.

Thank you. This is a great resource that really helps me understand what I have been seeing in the media and the hyper-push of Trans into everything.Zhathil wrote: ↑Fri Jun 21, 2019 11:24 amThis is a really, really long read but well worth it. I am not typically into 'conspiracy' things, but this is off the charts. Follow the money and it all leads to big pharm and a few people lining their pockets.
And oh yeah - 'the transgender lobby is built on a foundation of money, nonsense and homophobia'. Wow. Just wow.
There is just so much that I am processing in what I just read. I won't inflict you all with my pondering and instead will just continue my readings.
I just have to say though, thank God I grew up when I did with the parents I have.

Thank you for sharing this.
It has given me much needed data to work with during conversations I have with people who do not understand why this movement bothers me. As a GNC Female I am horrified by what I see them doing to the children.
I am so grateful I am not a kid or I am sure they would be pushing me that direction.

Re: Let's share some readings between radfems
Thanks for sharing. I wanted to learn more about this topic and reading the first article, I feel I like just opened pandora's box. I admit I don't know much about radfem though I have heard of it over the years. Reading this has open my eyes to things I didn't know what happening.
A transgendered woman saying Gays are only gay because they wish to be women. Isn't that bigorty?
Men wishing they could have went though puberty as a girl so they can wear miniskirts and complain about male gaze? But when we complain it's considered unflattering, whining, sexism, etc.
Men changing the definition of what is a women is so they can be one but the difintion of a man stays the same? Woman=whoever feels like one. Man=Penis.
What is going on?!
I'm shook, I'm honestly shook.

Re: Let's share some readings between radfems
So I'm slowly working my way through a mountain of suggested reading and such, and a few minutes ago finally finished the above item:
- Lierre Keith: Deep Green Resistance - "Liberal vs Radical" https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=YkXrS0NnQM0
After watching that I ALSO happened to notice user Foxgloves signature link to the German site that lists and analysis many men's views and statements on sex work.
Kieth's presentation on Dworkin's (among others) work on objectification and it's place in oppression is right.. the men's views being expressed at that site are not the product of a mistake or failed education, changing their minds through outreach for 99.999% of them isn't an option. It really WILL take tearing the entire institution down and nothing less, it seems. Radical, rather than a Liberal, approach most definitely seems to be the required approach to prostitution/legalized sex work.
I only mention it because some of the views expressed in that link were particularly chilling.
